![]() ![]() Darktable and DXO both have their own learning curves as well. A raster/pixel editor generally does have a not insignificant learning curve if your intention is to use it competently.Īs others have mentioned as raw convertors Darktable pairs well with GIMP as does DXO Photolab. Don't let anyone mislead you - Photoshop has a high learning curve as well. Still, it is the standard due to its features and capability. Photoshop is a subscription based product many don't like and I find its price is quite high relative to the others. However Affinity is an incredible value for its low price and feature set. A significant attribute of GIMP is that its free. And like the others it has some features of its own the others do not. As a raster/pixel editor it can do most anything the others can do with some exceptions. ![]() The best thing to do is download it and spend some time with it. The question you likely need to research for yourself is do you really need a raster (pixel) editor or would a parametric one like DXO, Lightroom or C1 (or Darktable) work and be sufficient for you? In that regard they are pretty much the same. For raw convertors or Parametric developers I do use Lightroom, Darktable and DXO Photolab.Īny Raster editor requires some reading and practice to use effectively and efficiently. I have used and still use Photoshop and Affinity. ![]()
